TWO MEN STILL IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING STING OPERATION IN INVERIN

Two men are still in Garda custody this afternoon in connection with an intelligence led operation into organised crime in Inverin.

Gardai from Galway and Salthill Garda stations supported by the Garda Emergency Response Team arrested the men at around 5.30 last evening.

The two men in their 30s are understood to be from South Africa and were arrested near the Post Office in Inverin.

The Post Office was closed at the time.

A number of items were recovered including what’s believed to be a firearm, knives, balaclavas, gloves and mobile phones.
