TWO MEN CHARGED OVER CITY CENTRE ASSAULT

Two men in their twenties will appear before the courts next month in connection with the alleged assault and robbery of a man in the city at the weekend.

Just after midnight on Sunday, a man was approached by two men close to the Cathedral in the city.

It’s alleged that cash and an iPod were taken from the man, who was assaulted in the incident.

The man immediately alerted Gardaí at Milstreet who soon after arrested two men in the Nuns Island area.

The two men were later charged with assault and robbery and will appear before the courts on Monday the 13th of December.

In a separate incident, a German man who had been working at the Christmas market was allegedly robbed of his takings in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Woodquay area of the city.
