TWO FIRES DESTROY BUILDINGS IN CITY AND COUNTY

Two Brazilian women had a lucky escape yesterday when a fire broke out in their city centre apartment while they were out.

The alarm was raised at 3.34 am yesterday when people saw smoke coming from a second floor window of an apartment on Merchants Road in the city centre.

Meanwhile, a major fire destroyed a vacant building on Dunkellin St, Loughrea between 12.45 and 1 o’clock yesterday morning.
