TWO CANDIDATES IN RUNNING FOR CIARAN CANNON’S COUNCIL SEAT

Two candidates have been put forward for a selection convention later this month to decide on Senator Ciaran Cannon’s replacement on Galway County Council.

The PD senator’s seat has remained vacant since he was elected to the Seanad.

A selection convention to select his successor is to take place at the Gate Lodge in Carrabane on Monday the 15th of October.

Mayor of Loughrea Michael Mogie Maher is hoping to take the seat as is Sylvia Burke who was formerly Chair of the Loughrea Playground Committee.
