Two Ballinasloe men questioned over alleged sex assault in Athlone
Galway Bay fm newsroom – One man remains in Garda custody this morning in connection with investigations into an alleged serious sexual assault on two young girls in Athlone.
Gardai detained three men, two of whom are from Galway, over the alleged incident at the weekend.
The men were detained overnight at Athlone Garda station as part of the investigation.
The victims of the alleged attack are both aged under 10.
Two of the men detained yesterday by Gardai are from the Ballinasloe area and are aged in their 40’s, while the third man is in his early 30’s and is known locally in Athlone.
Two men have now been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
