Gardaí in Tuam have arrested two men in connection with a series of robberies in Galway, Mayo and Clare in recent days.

Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon at 3.45pm, Gardaí from Tuam Station on an ‘Operation Thor’ patrol – backed up by the Traffic Corps and local detective unit – stopped a car on the N17 at Farranamartin.

During a search of the vehicle, property, drugs and cash were recovered. Two men – in their 20s and 40s – were arrested at the scene.

They are currently detained at Tuam Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

It is believed that the items recovered are the proceeds of criminal activity counties Mayo, Galway and Clare in recent days and investigating Gardaí are seeking owners for the property to contact them.

The property recovered includes a camera, fishing rods and equipment, phones and tobacco. A sum of cash and a quantity of cannabis herb (pending analysis) was also seized.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840.
