TWO ARRESTED FOLLOWING ALLEGED EYRE SQUARE ASSAULT

TWO young men arrested in connection with an incident in Eyre Square, which left another young man seriously injured, have been released without charge but a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The two alleged suspects in the incident were released by Galway Gardai shortly after 11 o’clock last night.
The 20 year old man was on top of an ESB substation in the centre of the square around 3.15 am on Saturday when he fell off during a row, sustaining serious head injuries.
The young Waterford man is improving at University Hospital Galway and he has been moved out of the high dependency unit at the hospital this afternoon (SUNDAY).
He was rushed there from Eyre Square around half three yesterday morning after the incident took place.
Galway Gardai are pleased with the progess in their investigations but they are again appealing to any other witnesses to the incident to contact them.
