Two alpacas and mule lead reinforcements to Croke Park!

Kiltormer Nursing Home sent reinforcements to Dublin last September for the Galway senior hurlers, who were on a mission to end a 29-years wait for Liam McCarthy.

The back-up came in the form of Galway legends Conor Hayes and Tony and Ollie Kilkenny, who were brought to Croke Park – in a rickshaw.

The two-minutes video skit, which was uploaded onto the nursing home’s Facebook page, attracted 95,000 views.

And now, as Galway embarks on another trip to Croke Park to defend their All-Ireland title, the good folk at Kiltormer Nursing Home have made another video short to document them sending the same reinforcements again to GAA HQ to help ‘dig-out’ Micheál Donoghue and his charges if they need it against Limerick.

Except this season the rickshaw has broken down . . . and so Gordon and Derek Glynn had to improvise to get Conor Hayes and the Kilkenny brothers up to Dublin.

In a light-hearted 2018 sequel to their initial video, Gordon – a former county hurler – reveals their latest mode of transport to bring the cavalry to Croker: two alpacas, Barney and Al Pacino and Big Betsy, a mule!

The ‘big reveal’ is in the video on the nursing homes Facebook page, and already it has attracted more than 50,000 views. The animals are from the nursing home’s farm and are trained by Tony McKeigue.

Some 29 residents of the nursing home are in the video and children from Kiltormer National School, decked out in maroon and white and flying the Galway flag, were also involved in the making of it.
