Tulca invites schools to get creative
Three Galway schools have been chosen to take part in the pilot scheme of Create Dangerously, a new arts education programme designed to empower students and teachers through creative thinking and creative making.
Clontuskert NS, Ballinasloe; Cregmore NS, Cregmore; and Coláiste Iognáid (The ‘Jes’), Galway City, have been selected for this stage of the programme, which is being presented by Tulca Festival of Visual Arts and Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture
Each classroom will this week receive a new art film commissioned by Tulca especially for the project. They are A March in March by Donal McConnon, I Got Power by Maeve Clancy and My Island by Emma Zukovic. Participating classes will kick off their creative responses after the Easter holidays. The aim is to have them develop their own ‘creativity manifesto’ and an exhibition that they’ll share with their schools and will also post online.
Editions of these works will become permanent parts of the Create Dangerously programme which will be rolled out to schools nationally after this pilot.
Tulca’s education partner, Curo, designed the project, and will facilitate school sessions and provide development support to teachers.
Create Dangerously is part of UnSelfing, a programme of visual art created by Tulca for Galway 2020.
