TUAM WASTE COMPANY ORDERED TO COMPLY WITH ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS
Date Published: 17-Dec-2012
Galway County Council is investigating an enviromental compliance issue at a Tuam waste company.
WERS Waste, based at Weir Road in Tuam has been ordered not to accept any more waste at its facility until the Council is satisifed that it is fully compliant.
The Environmental Protection Agency issued a Section 63 Notice to Galway County Council on December 6th after it became aware of issues at the facility.
This included completion dates and required the Council to follow up on issues including the prevention of further waste being accepted on-site to the closure of the facility.
The EPA carried out a site visit on Friday and is now happy that progress is being made.
