Tuam teenager set for new direction with Louis Walsh’s boyband

A new boyband is to be formed in the New Year and it is expected that one of the members of the group will be a Tuam teenager.

There is no name as yet for the new boyband which is expected to have 17 year old fifth year student Brendan Murray as one of its five members.

The Murray family from Milltown Road in Tuam have been precluded from speaking to the media about the prospect of their son becoming a major pop star in the band being formed by X-Factor judge Louis Walsh.

But Walsh confirmed to a County Galway school that he was establishing a new boyband and that one of the members would be from Tuam.

Brendan is a student at St Jarlath’s in Tuam and has been involved in the local music scene for the past few years. He played in a local group that performed locally and in Galway city.

He was also an accomplished under age footballer with Tuam Stars but it is understood that his priority at the moment is to pursue a career in music.

His brother Denis Murray is member of the Tuam Stars senior squad.  He is the son of Frank and Julianne Murray. Frank is from Cavan and worked with Quinn’s Quarries in Williamstown.

Louis Walsh is putting together the five member group in an effort to rival One Direction who have become millionaires since their appearance on X-Factor three years ago.

Walsh was in touch with Killeeneen National School in Craughwell during their Christmas show and gave them a good wish message.

He was speaking from X-Factor rehearsals in London and wished all of the children taking part in the school show the best of luck and added that he might see some of them on the hit show sometime in the future.
