The parents of a new Galway singing sensation are delighted that their son is part of the new boyband Hometown which reached the top of the charts last weekend.

Teenager Brendan Murray from Tuam is part of Louis Walsh’s latest creation. Already they are tasting pheonomenal success.

Proud parents Frank and Julianne Murray are relishing the success of their son, who only joined the group earlier this year.

“Brendan is delighted. It is a great achievement and we are very thankful for the support he has received from Tuam. It has been absolutely brilliant,” Frank Murray told The Connacht Tribune.

And the new star is hoping that the new group can perform in his home town of Tuam at some stage. He said that he has received huge support locally.

The group’s catchy debut single Where I Belong has gone to the top of the charts and there are high hopes that it is the first of many.

Brendan (17), a student at St Jarlath’s College in Tuam, has been involved in the local music scene for the past few years. He was involved in a local group that performed around the Tuam area and in Galway City.

He was also an accomplished under age footballer with Tuam Stars. He played at under 16 and minor level but at the moment his priority is to pursue a career in music. His brother Denis Murray is a member of the Tuam Stars senior squad.
