Tuam’s revived market a big success

THE revived Tuam market found a new home last weekend and it proved very popular with members of the public.

The monthly market has moved to the plaza in front of Tuam Shopping Centre and all of the traders were delighted with the crowds and the reception they got. However, there is no indication when facilities will be provided to locate the market in The Shambles car park.

Galway County Council has earmarked this car park as the location for a country market on a permanent basis but the traders are delighted with their current location. The market was originally revived by Energise Tuam, whose aim is to boost business for the town centre traders, and was located at Egan’s lane.

But last Saturday, the traders moved to the area in front of Tuam Shopping Centre and it proved a resounding success. There was a mixture of home produce, garden plants, arts and crafts and trinkets for sale on the market, which drew large crowds throughout the course of the day.
