Tuam man pleads to handbag thefts

A 27-year-old Tuam man will be sentenced in January for robbing handbags from women in the town earlier this year.
Damien Cunniffe, of 97 Lissadyra, Ballygaddy Road, Tuam, pleaded guilty before Galway Circuit Criminal Court to the robbery of a handbag from a woman at Cathedral car park, Tuam on January 21st.
He also pleaded guilty to the robbery of another woman’s handbag at Curragh Court, Tuam on January 16th.
Judge Rory McCabe directed the preparation of victim impact statements and a probation report on the accused prior to sentencing on January 23 next.
