Tuam’s 30 million euro ‘Big Dig’ will be under the spotlight when a public meeting is held in the town within a fortnight, Tuam Town Council has heard.

Local Councillors were also told this week that a commencement order is expected to be issued to the contractors, Coffey’s of Athenry, within days.

Councillor Peter Warren said people were anxious to know when work on realigning services underground such as electricity, gas, sewerage and water will take place.

Frank Gilmore replied that while no date was set yet for work to start the consultation process will intensify within the next fortnight.
