A Tuam man, who was found in possession of heroin, was jailed for nine months at Galway Dictrict Court this week.

Self-confessed heroin addict and drug dealer 30 year old Tom Ward, a native of 50 Gilmartin Road, Tuam, was found with 3 small bags of the drug on January 18th last.

The court heard that the drug, worth 500 euro, were found at Ward’s residence in Claregalway, along with €1500 in cash and other drug paraphernalia.

Ward admitted, when arrested, that he was a drug dealer so that he could feed his own habit.

Judge Mary Fahy sentenced him to eight months in prison for the drug dealing offence and imposed a consecutive one month sentence on him for failing to appear in court in Tuam at an earlier court hearing.
