TUAM DOG OWNERS ASKED TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE
Date Published: 09-Apr-2011
DOG owners in Tuam need to be more responsible when walking their pets in the town’s Palace Grounds according to Councilor Shaun Cunniffe.
Speaking at this week’s Tuam Town Council meeting Cllr Cunniffe, also a recently co-opted member of Galway County Council, complained about dogs fouling the public park.
He was supported in his comments by Cllr Tom Reilly.
Cllr Cunniffe said that he had seen some people using the Palace Grounds to exercise their pets, and after the dogs "doing their business", the owners just walked away.
He said people who own pets should bring pooper-scoopers and ensure, if their dog fouls up the public park, that the offending material is removed immediately.
He said that this is vital as so many other people, especially young children, also use the town’s public park on a regular basis.
