TUAM COUNCILLORS WANT PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR SOME ESTATES
Several members of Tuam Town Council are concerned that people living in unfinished estates in the town are being asked to pay the new property tax.
However at a meeting of the Town Council this week they were told that it can be a slow process to have sections of a private estate taken over by the County Council.
In reply Director of Services Frank Gilmore said residents could apply to have a section of an estate that was fully finished taken over by the council but it was all a very slow process.
He added that unfortunately some developers don’t have the money to finish estates and there were also problems relating to bonds entered into by the developers and banks.
