Tuam Cllr calls for suspension of solid fuel carbon tax
Tuam area councillor Sean Canney is calling on the government to suspend plans for a solid fuel carbon tax.
The tax is an excise duty that will apply to solid fuel supplied in the State on or after May 1st.
It will apply to coal and peat as defined in section 77 of the Finance Act 2010.
Independent councillor Sean Canney says it will have a severe impact on the elderly, on families and on people who rely on solid fuel to heat their homes.
