TUAM AND BALLINASLOE PARENTS TO BE CONSULTED ON CHANGES TO RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Date Published: 10-Apr-2012
Parents from Tuam and Ballinasloe may be approached for their opinion on school patronage in their areas.
It’s among new recommendations on how religion is taught in the primary education sector.
The Forum on patronage and Pluralism today published its advisory report on school patronage, and is recommending that up to be 50 schools be divested around the country.
The schools will be plucked from around 250 schols in 4 Dublin areas and 43 towns including Ballinasloe and Tuam that were identified in 20-10.
As part of that process the group is recommending a preference register for parents with pre-school children in the 47 areas.
It’s also seeking information from parents with children already enrolled in primary schools in the areas.
Divestment would take place on a phased basis and the remaining non-divested schools would become more diverse.
