Troubled film started in Galway set for release

AN epic war film, which commenced filming in Galway more than six years ago but ran out of money after a few months of shooting will finally be completed and put on the big screen this year.

The movie, Waiting for Dublin is set against the backdrop of World War II and tells the story of an American fighter pilot who crashes in the west of Ireland.

The €6 million film, which is a co-production between the Irish Film Board and a Belgian firm, Corsan, will finally be released in New York this coming March before it hits cinemas across the globe later in the year.

Among the stars of the film are local actress, Jade Yourell, who is best known for her playing of Jasmine in Fair City some years ago.

The film has been controversial due to the fact that when it ceased filming in March 2003, it failed to settle payments with a long list of local film crew workers, the Gardaí and the county and city council.
