A trickle of voters have been seen entering Galway’s polling stations since they opened at 7 this morning.

Voters are being asked to decide on who should be the ninth president of Ireland and on two constitutional referendums.

Voting took place on the Aran Islands and Inisbofin yesterday where turnout was an estimated 45 per cent.

This morning Galway’s two candidates in the presidential race will vote in Galway.

City resident Michael D Higgins will cast his vote at Bushy Park national school while Dana Rosemary Scallon will cast her vote at Carnmore national school.
