Trial begins for man accused of sex trafficking in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Romanian man, who allegedly managed a sex trafficking business from his home in Galway has gone on trial in Sweden.

31 year old Ilie Ionut and his female co-accused 28 year old Ancuta Schwarz were arrested following major international investigation.

Both Ionut and Schwarz face charges of human trafficking for sexual purposes and aggravated procuring.

According to today’s Irish Independent, Ionut allegedly managed the business while living in Galway and later when he moved to Belfast.

Schwarz, who was arrested last April in Belfast, allegedly organised the hotels and apartments where the prostitution took place.

Both Inout and Schwarz deny the charges.
