Trawl of CCTV footage for missing student
CCTV footage of the area around Spanish Arch and the Claddagh is being trawled by Gardaí in the search for missing NUI Galway student Michael Bugler.
The 20-year-old was last seen leaving the Quays Bar on Quay Street before 1am last Thursday night/Friday morning, and CCTV captured him passing Claddagh Church at 12.55am on his way home to Fairhill Road.
There was a reported sighting of him in the Gort na Coiribe student village at around 3am.
The law student from Newmarket on Fergus in Co Clare was wearing a blue sweatshirt/jacket as seen here:
Searches were carried out yesterday (Sunday) in the Gort na Coiribe complex, including door-to-door enquiries, while up to 100 people helped with searches today. The next search will leave Galway Garda Station (Mill Street) at 10am on Tuesday morning.
Michael’s sister Laura appealed for help: “Thank you so much everyone for your kind words and well wishes, also big thanks to everyone who is supporting us through the media and coming out and searching for our Michael. Thus far we know for sure that at approximately 00:55 Michael was passing the Claddagh Church on his way home.
“We are focusing on collecting CCTV footage and organising our search routes for tomorrow. We will be leaving tomorrow at 10am again and any support would be much appreciated at Mill Street Garda Station Galway,” she said.
Michael has dark brown hair which is cut short, is of average thin build and about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a sallow complexion and blue
eyes. When last seen, he was wearing blue jeans.
