TRANSPORT MINISTER SAYS NO REVERSAL TO ROAD FUNDING CUTBACKS

Transport Minister Noel Dempsey say’s he will NOT be re-instating a cutback of 9million euro for Galways roads.

The massive cutback in funding was announced at a recent meeting of Galway County Council.

50 Galway roads have been dropped from the 2009 programme, with the funding down to 24 million euro, due to cutbacks at the Department of transport.

Notice was also given to 28 outdoor staff in the roads department.

Minister Dempsey was in ClareGalway this lunchtime to launch the new quality road corrider.
