TRAFFIC DELAYS AS TWO CITY ROUNDABOUTS SET TO BE REMOVED
Date Published: 15-Feb-2012
Major traffic disruption is expected from Monday [Feb 20] as work to remove two more of the city’s roundabouts is set to commence.
Ten councillors voted for the removal of the Font roundabout at the Tuam road and the Morris roundabout at Ballybane last September.
The project is expected to take 12 weeks to complete.
It follows the conversion of the Lynch roundabout at Briarhill late last year to a signalised junction – the first of a total of six planned changeovers.
There will be no lane closures between the hours of 7am and 7pm to facilitate peak traffic flow in both areas.
Galway City Council’s Director of Services Ciarán Hayes told Galway Bay fm news that all efforts will be taken to minimise disruption for motorists
