Date Published: 21-Jun-2012
Popular trad group Dusty Banjos will return to Cleggan village, oustide Clifden this weekend for their fourth annual Traditional Music Weekend.
Musicians from Galway, Clifden and further afield will be visiting to play a series of sessions in local pubs. Last year saw over 75 musicians and singers taking part in the event, and this year is expected to be even bigger.
Dusty Banjos celebrate their 10th birthday this year. They have played extensively in Galway and around Ireland, as well as in Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Berlin, Prague, and more. Their classes and learners sessions are going from strength to strength, and their first CD, Live at The Crane, released two years ago was well received in Ireland and abroad.
Dusty Banjos will be playing in Newman’s this Friday, June 22, and Oliver’s on Saturday. The weekend will clonclude with an afternoon session in Oliver’s from 2-5pm on Sunday. Sessions are always open, and musicians, singers and dancers are always very welcome, including learners. Last year, many visitors of all ages – both Irish and from Europe and as far afield as New Mexico, joined in with the music, singing and dancing, or as an enthusiastic audience. So come along and join in the craic – all are welcome!
