TOWN CLLR HUGH DOLAN OUT OF SENATE RACE

Fianna Fail Ballinasloe Town Cllr Hugh Dolan has been eliminated in the race for a seat in the Seanad.

He was eliminated on the 17th count for the Industrial and Commerical panel with 19,022 votes.

So far none of the Galway contenders vying for a Seanad seat on that panel have been elected.

Fianna Fail County Cllr Mary Hoade is topping the poll among the Galway contenders with 42,000 votes on the latest count but this is still below the quota of some 106,000 votes.

Fine Gael County Cllr Tom McHugh is polling at 27,000 votes.

The count has just been suspended until 6pm.
