Tourism Minister Michael Ring is calling on hoteliers to keep prices at a ‘reasonable level’ during the Galway races.

A spot check on hotel websites reveal some well known city hotels are charging over three hundred euro for a one night stay next week.

A standard double room with breakfast next Wednesday will cost you 320 euro at the G Hotel at Wellpark, up to 350 euro at the Hotel Meyrick in Eyre Square, and 300 euro at the Radisson Blu on Lough Atalia Road.

The Minister is urging hotels and businesses who entered into a good pricing charter for the Volvo Ocean race, to keep up the practice for next week’s festival.

Thousands of people are expected to come to Galway for 7 day event, boosting the local economy.
