Top musicians join forces for concert

Traditional maestros, Máirtín O’Connor, Garry ÓBriain and Cathal Hayden will join the Galway ensemble in residence, ConTempo next Thursday, March 6 for a musical celebration embracing Irish trad, Romanian folk, and classical compositions

 Audiences can enjoy the musicians’ mix of classical, Irish traditional and Romanian dance music at the concert in the Hotel Meyrick, Galway. It will kick off at 8pm.

These artists have a long history of collaboration and in 2007 they recorded the CD Spiccato Junction. 

The Romanian quartet, ConTempo have been Galway’s ensemble in residence since 2003, and have performed all over the West of Ireland in that role, as well as travelling worldwide to take part in festivals and recitals.

Máirtín O’Connor, Cathal Hayden and Garry Ó Briain are three of the leading figures in Irish traditional music, and have played with some of the country’s best-known groups as well as having established solo careers.
