Galway Bay fm newsroom – As the Hawkeye controversy rages on we can only wonder what actor Tom Hanks is making of it.

The Oscar winning actor gave his backing to the Galway minors as he watched the hurling clash during a flight transit in Shannon Airport at the weekend.

He and his family watched the Galway-Limerick match on Sunday as his plane stopped to refuel en route to Greece.

The Galway minors are now in the All-Ireland hurling final after beating Limerick 23 points to 20 but Limerick is calling for a replay

Airport Duty Manager Carmel Donnellan said the Hanks family delayed their departure to take in the end of the hurling clash.

Carmel says Tom Hanks was shouting for Galway throughout- way to go Tom!
