TINY PER CENT OF GRANT FOR GALWAY’S ELDERLY

Galway has been allocated just 1.5 per cent of the latest government funding for schemes for the elderly

The scheme provides security systems for the elderly community

€3,600 has been allocated to the Seniors Alert Scheme in Galway out of a figure of €230,000 funding provided nationally.

The grants are given to install alarm systems and items to improve the safety and security of home owners over 65.

Aughrim Active Retirement group receives €280 in funding this year.

St Vincent de Paul, Tuam will get €600, the news was slightly better for St Vincent de Paul in Ballinasloe who get €1400.

Finally Oughterard Community Alert gets €1300.
