CITY TRIBUNE
Time to play in the rain at Rinville Park
Children and families across Galway County and City are invited to Rinville Park outside Oranmore for a WeatherPlay project this Bank Holiday Monday.
They’re being encouraged to invent new ways to have fun in the wind and rain at this free event which starts at 11.15am and runs until 3pm.
The event is being hosted by the group Hope it Rains / Soineann Nó Doinnean and it’s the first of a series of WeatherPlay initiatives for its Galway 2020 project. The aim of Hope it Rains is to “make Galway the place to be because it rains and blows”.
And on Monday, people will be given plenty of inspiration to play outdoors in (and with) the wind and rain.
This will include rain-painting, bad-weather bingo, mud kitchens, adventure-play, forest-school, kite flying, weather wanders, puddle-jumping, building a water-blaster, and much more!
There will be opportunities to learn from play experts, artists and activists about the importance of outdoor and risky play, and the need to create more outdoor play opportunities for children in Galway.
