While the video sharing site TikTok has long been the domain of teenagers, during the lockdown a fair amount of adults got in on the action. No less than two top Government ministers, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris, improved their social media following by releasing clips on the app, joined this week by former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams.

A video of Michael D Higgins’ pup Misneach chewing the President’s hand while trying to grab his attention during a TV interview has attracted over two million views.
