THREAT TO PORTIUNCULA ONCOLOGY UNIT BRANDED IMMORAL

The threat of closure to the oncology unit at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe has been described as "immoral".

Roscommon T.D Denis Naughton says the Government’s agenda is to put banks before cancer patients.

Last evening, Galway Bay Fm News revealed that 7 staff at the oncology unit were told that it would be closed as part of the HSE’s cost cutting plan.

In a statement, the HSE says no decision has been made to remove the oncology service from Portiuncula hospital.
