THOUSANDS SIGN ST FRANCIS NURSING HOME PETITION

Over 20 thousand people in Galway have signed a petition to keep St. Francis Nursing Home open.

The HSE plans to close the Newcastle facility and have already reduced the number of residents from 40 to 19.

A campaign led by City Councillor Catherine Connolly to maintain the home has gathered the support since it was initiated last July.

Meanwhile, Galway Government TDs Brian Walsh, Sean Kyne and Derek Nolan have vowed to raise the issue with Health Minister James Reilly.
