Third man charged over Milltown drugs haul

A third chinese man has been charged in relation to a 2.5 million euro drugs haul near Milltown at the weekend.

He appeared before Galway District Court this afternoon, where he was remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District Court.

Meanwhile, two other Chinese men appeared before a special sitting of Galway District Court yesterday (sun) on charges relating to the seizure of 3,000 Cannabis plants with an estimated value of 2.4 million Euro at a warehouse in Milltown on Saturday.

The two men, Zhi Qiang Lin (45) and Yuan Chen Wei (52) were both charged under Section 3, of posession, and under Section 17, of cultivation, of Cannabis under the Misuse of Drugs Act at Unit 7 of the N17 Industrial Park, Milltown.

A fourth Chinese man, remains in Garda custody at Millstreet station, where his period of detention has been extended, for more questioning.
