Yogi Carol Murphy has taught over one thousand teachers over the years through her Green Lotus Yoga school.  She has developed courses – that she can also teach online – that encompass 300 hours of training, using her background in Iyengar, Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles of yoga.

She is also trained in neuromuscular therapy where she learned about fascia, the connective tissue that connects everything in our bodies.

“Even though trauma is associated with mental health, it is connected to our nervous system and these nervous system settings cannot be rewired back to ‘normal’ through talk therapy alone,” she explains.

“Fascial experts now realise that ‘our issues are in our tissues’. We can access and balance these deeper trauma layers through releasing the fascia and through controlled breathwork. There are now studies that prove that unresolved trauma in the nervous system is linked to a host of physical ailments and autoimmune responses. Therefore, learning to reset the nervous system, not only lends to happy states of well-being, but can also help with many health issues in addition to postural dysfunctions.”

Living on the edge of the Burren, working out of her Yogamoves Studio in Gort, Carol created the method SomaRoll to help people to become their own therapists in response to the impact of Covid on mental health.
