The Loves of Cass Maguire to be staged in Kinvara
The Loves of Cass Maguire, by Brian Friel, will be staged in Kinvara Community Centre this Saturday, March 23, at 8pm.
In this play, which premiered in New York’s Helen Hayes Theater in 1966, Cass McGuire has returned home to Ireland after more than 50 years of exile. She lived in New York where she worked a block from Skid Row, among deadbeats and washouts; people who lived in the past.
This plot deals with her return and her genteel family’s rejection of her. It follows her lonely struggle to re-discover the home she’s dreamt of all her life and her eventual surrender to the make-believe of Eden House.
This production is presented by Clann Machua Drama Group from Kiltimagh and is well worth seeing. Tickets at €10 will be available on the door or from Be Yourself Boutique and Market Square Surgery in Kinvara.
