Galway property tycoon John Lally has won his bid to expand his hotel in the city.

An Bord Plean‡la has granted him permission to build 12 new suites at the Harbour Hotel at the Docks.

It decided to grant permission to John Lally subject to five conditions, including that he pay the city council a financial contribution towards public infrastructure and facilities in the docklands area benefiting his hotel.
