The Latchikos hit the festival circuit

The Latchikos, made up of Shrule fiddler Aindrias de Staic, Timmy Scanalan and Eimhin Cradock are on their way to Glastonbury and then a world tour of film festivals since which follows the trio’s success at the Folk Alliance Showcase in Toronto last February.

The boys brought a bit of real raw west-of-Ireland spirit when they kicked off their world tour last Sunday night at the Townhouse Bar.

They will also be playing at the Main Stage in the Body And Soul Festival, the Spoken Word tent at Glastonbury and then it’s onto Canada, Australia, Connemara and wherever the gigs roll in.

In 2007, Aindrias de Staic won the Sweet Award at the Edinburgh Fringe festival when his one-man show enjoyed a 16-night run in the Scottish city.  Aindrias was also in Woody Sez, a show about the life and music of Woody Guthrie, in London’s West End. His first lead role in a feature film was I am Raftery – the Weaver of Words where he portrayed the blind 18th century Irish bard in the biographical movie. Other film roles include Malarkey, The Year I Got Younger, Further We Search and A Moment of Grace. He is currently a judge on TG4’s Scór Encore.

Keep an eye out for more shows by Aindrias and the Latchikos, it’s raucous stuff.
