HeadFest returns this year, with a host of gigs and events taking place in Headford over the June Bank Holiday Weekend.

The highlight of the weekend looks set to be a show from The Hothouse Flowers on Sunday, June 3. The show will take place in the Big Red Barn in Moyne Villa, which is where much of the weekend’s major festivities will be taking place.

The Hothouse Flowers were founded 33 years ago, but it was the release of Home in 1998 that really set them on the course they’re still following today. The album featured the hit single Don’t Go, which was a mainstay on Irish radio for years after, and still gets plenty of spins today. They followed on with more successful album, with 1993’s Songs From The Desert being a particular gem.

The band have gone on to tour around the world and are regular guests at the Glastonbury Festival. In 2016, the band played in the Lucerne Valley in the Californian for the debut episode of Amazon’s mega-budget car show The Grand Tour.

Their most recent record was Let’s Do This Thing, an album that showed the soul and creativity at the heart of the band remains intact.

Expect Liam O’Maonlai and co to give the crowd all the hits, some newer songs and a few surprises. Tickets €27 from headfest.ie.
