These are the cheapest homes on the market in Galway City – one-bed apartments in Doughiska for the equivalent of just €35,000 each.

The 14 apartments are set to go under the hammer in one lot next month with an Advised Minimum Value of €490,000.

Nine of the properties are currently rented and are generating almost €60,000 per annum.

The apartments are in two blocks on the Doughiska Road. Block 10 comprises 8 one-bed apartments, six of which have tenants in place, while Block 14 comprises 6 one-bed units, three of which have tenants in place.

The €35,000 apartments make up just one lot in the O’Donnellan & Joyce auction next month, which will be the biggest ever held outside of Dublin, with more than 70 lots going under the hammer.

Auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan said: “There has been particular interest from investors. Viewings and enquiries have been overwhelming, with buyers from all over the country who are looking for property at exceptional value.”

Meanwhile, the county’s cheapest homes went under the hammer last week for the equivalent of €30,000 apiece.

The three- and four-bed semi-detached houses at the Bealach na Céartan development in Williamstown were sold to a telephone bidder at the Allsop Space in Dublin last Tuesday afternoon.

The four properties – which were sold in one lot – had a reserve price of €98,000 and attracted two bidders before being sold for €120,000.
