The bookies believe Galway hurlers are home and dry
MAYBE the bookmakers will be proven right but making Galway hurlers short odds to defeat Wexford in the Leinster Championship on Saturday appears to ignore the formbook.
The Tribesmen are a prohibitively priced at 4/7 to carry the day at Wexford Park (4:30pm) in the opening round of the provincial round-robin series which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
True, Wexford bombed out against Waterford in the League semi-final, but had won five matches before then including an away victory (2-15 to 0-15) over Galway in February.
Henry Shefflin’s charges didn’t even make the league knock-out stages and are also facing into their first championship campaign since 2008 without the legendary and now retired Joe Canning.
Aidan Harte, who has also hung up his inter-county boots, and injured trio Adrian Tuohey, Shane Cooney and Jason Flynn are other Galway absentees for a match which is critical is both teams. See 118 to 119.
