Terryland Retail Park tops list for city’s highest shopping centre vacancy rate

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Terryland Retail Park has the highest commercial vacancy rate of the city’s main shopping centres.
That’s according to the latest GeoView report which also shows that Abbeygate Street Upper has the highest such rate out of nine Galway high streets examined for the first quarter of this year.
The report focused on five main shopping centres in the city and found Terryland Retail Park had the highest vacancy rate of over 24%.
Galway Retail Park had the lowest rate at almost 7%.
Of the nine city high streets examined, Abbeygate Street Upper had the highest rate at over 19%, while Shop Street had the lowest at 3%.
The data recorded a commercial vacancy rate for Eyre Square of almost 16% – the third highest.
Out of over 12 thousand commercial addresses in the city and county, almost 19 hundred were recorded as vacant during the period – a rate of over 14%.
Nationally the rate stands at 12%.
Dara Keogh, CEO of GeoDirectory says the study reveals the level of performance for a range of well known areas in the city.
