TICKETS for the new Corribside stand at Terryland Park have almost completely sold out for tomorrow night’s friendly between Galway United and Leeds United, who are currently on a preseason tour of Ireland (7.30 p.m.).
Leeds, who are the bookmakers’ favourite to win the League One title this season, have had a substantial Irish following down through the years and are expected to draw a large crowd to the Dyke Road venue.
Under the guidance of Gary McAllister and assistant manager Steve Staunton, Leeds have added Galway born defender Alan Sheehan to their books and the former Leicester City player is looking forward to visiting his hometown club. “There’s a massive following of Leeds fans in Ireland and playing in my home city for Leeds will be a proud moment.”
Free-kick specialist Sheehan, who featured 10 times on loan last season for Leeds United, is looking forward to helping Leeds bid for automatic promotion to the Championship.
“I’ve played in the Championship and that’s where I want to be again. I’ll only be happy when we get to the Championship and are pushing for the Premiership.”
