Teenager killed in Oughterard crash

A young female – aged in her teens – was killed in a road crash in Oughterard in the early hours of this morning.

The girl was a passenger in the car which struck a wall in Porridgetown at around 1.15am.  She died at the scene.  Her body has been removed to the Mortuary in University Hospital Galway where a post mortem will take place.
The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, sustained serious injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
