TEAGASC SAYS MOUNTBELLEW COLLEGE NOT PART OF ITS FUTURE PLANS

Mountbellew Agricultural College will not be considered in Teagasc’s future plans to develop state of the art facilities.

Two facilities in Cavan and Kilkenny will be used instead which once again leaves the future of the Mountbellew College in limbo.

In a recent letter to the college, Teagasc said funding would be cut at the end of this academic term in June 2010.

Following discussions with the IFA; Teagasc extended the deadline for another year.

After that, the college may be used as a regional centre offering part-time courses only.
