TAXIS IN GALWAY STILL RUNNING TOMORROW DESPITE PROTEST

Taxis will still be running in the city tomorrow [Wed April 1] despite the planned Day of Action by Galway Taxi Association.

The GTA is holding a protest from 12 noon tomorrow at the Eyre Square taxi rank and also at the Bridge Street rank.

Forty to fifty taxis will be inactive at the 2 ranks, but people will still be able to get taxis elsewhere on the street and they’ll also be able to call the city’s taxi companies.

Galway Taxi Association wants better working conditions for drivers and a suspension on the number of licences being issued.

Jim Parsloe of the GTA says tomorrow’s protest is to make a point but not to disrupt the city.
