Taximen targeted in armed robberies

GARDAÍ in the city are investigating two separate robberies on taxis at the weekend in which a screwdriver and knife were used to threaten the drivers.

The first incident occurred in the Ballindooley area in the early hours of Saturday morning after the male taxi driver picked up a fare at Bothar na dTreabh. As the taxi driver approached Ballindooley Cross shortly after 2am, his passenger produced a knife and threatened him. He then made off on foot after stealing a small amount of cash from the taxi driver.
